Field Service Engineer

An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Field Based Service Engineer to join our small and friendly team. The primary focus for this role will be performing field-based assignments such as:
  • Diagnosing and repairing electrical, mechanical and issues
  • Servicing machinery
  • Installing new systems
  • Commissioning new systems
  • Training our customers operators, supervisors and maintenance engineers
Job Responsibilities:
  • To carry out site work, including commissioning, testing and fault-finding of complex automated packing systems and providing feedback, modification, guidance and assistance, to the technical team.
  • As well as Service and Breakdowns fault-finding, monitoring and diagnostic skills are essential.
  • To assist with factory based trials of specialised or development type systems, including setting up, build, modification, testing and evaluation.
  • Complete all assignments within the time frame agreed
  • Provide “World-Class” customer service while on-site and interacting with site personnel to ensure our client’s satisfaction
  • Keep workspace neat and clean during time on site; ensure customer/visitors have access to space
  • Ensure all questions, issues, action-items for the site have been fulfilled prior to leaving site.
  • Communicate with your Line Manager on a daily and/or weekly basis as appropriate, via phone, text, and e-mail regarding schedule, etc.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Goal-Oriented with desire to achieve and surpass
  • Two or more years’ experience in both electrical and mechanical related fields:
  • 24-volt electrical systems – Installation and Troubleshooting
  • Good PLC knowledge and understanding
  • Ability to work in fast-paced and ever-evolving environment
  • Highly organized
  • Possess superior communication and customer service skills both written and verbal.
  • Ability to be disciplined, self-motivated to work remotely from home base
  • Excellent time-management
  • Project a professional image of themselves and Pacepacker Services Ltd.
  • Full UK Driving License
Physical Demands:
  • Walking, bending, lifting, repetitive motion, use of hand tools and test equipment
  • Driving short and long distances
  • Occasionally lifting up to 25Kgs.
  • Occasionally climbing up ladders but most work is carried out at ground level.
  • Regular overnight stays close to the working site.
Work Environments:
  • Environments: Factories used for the handling of dry materials such as, cereals, wood chips, sand, gravel, food, chemicals, during business hours and possibly non-business hours
  • Field Based travelling from home
  • Commercial /factory environments: mainly during business hours
  • Occasionally working on floor and crawl spaces
  • Working from home and/or office in front of computer

Required Tools and Equipment:
The following equipment is required to be carried with you any time you are in the field working for Pacepacker Services. Note: While not every job will require the use of every tool, emergency calls can come up at any time and a successful candidate will need to be able to respond quickly. Note: This list is subject to change with notice.
Field Equipment (Supplied):
  • Laptop, Tablet, or Smartphone with Wi-Fi capabilities and Data Service
  • Camera/Phone with minimum of 2MP.
  • VW Transporter Van
Field Tools (required):
  • All Pacepacker Services specific tools; provided by Pacepacker upon successful hire
  • Basic essential tool kit will be required to be owned by candidate.
General Requirements:
  • Full and clean UK Driver’s License
  • Clean criminal record
  • Good general health
Required experience:
  • electrical/mechanical: 2 years
